S tellar Science is a growing Albuquerque-based scientific software development company seeking talented scientists and software developers to create and extend exciting scientific and engineering analysis applications. We develop custom software products as well as perform basic research into algorithms and techniques for analyzing multi-spectral, polarization, infrared, radar, visible, and other types of imagery. We also build and maintain Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools for building spacecraft models.

Scientific & Engineering Software Developer

For this position, we are willing to consider a wide range of applicants ranging from recent college graduates to experienced scientists; the main requirements are that candidates be top-notch, responsible, self-motivated, honest, able to work well independently or in small teams, and be able to rapidly learn new languages, tools, and techniques as needed to meet mission requirements.

Minimum Requirements: B.S. in Computer Science or B.S. in a scientific or engineering field with substantial software development experience. C++ and strong object-oriented design and programming experience a must. Strong recommendations required. Due to our work with the Department of Defense, applicants must be U.S. citizens and must be willing to undergo a background investigation. Some work will be performed at Kirtland Air Force Base.

Desired: M.S. or PhD in Computer Science or a scientific or engineering field with substantial software experience. Candidates experienced using TrollTech's Qt library are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience in any of the following a plus:

  • Image processing, imagery analysis, or computer vision
  • Cross-platform development with C++
  • 3D graphics using OpenInventor and/or OpenGL
  • Knowledge of satellites, space, orbital mechanics
  • Computer Aided Design (CAD)
  • Linux, Sun, SGI, Windows
  • Familiary with Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Python
  • Java
  • Matlab
  • MySQL or other relational databases
